We love summer, the beaches, and of course, Asturias in Spain. Today, we’ll take a tour of some of the most beautiful spots along the Asturian coast. While the heat here may not be as intense as in other parts of the country, you can still take a dip, enjoy the water, and fall in love with the natural beauty. After all, extreme heat isn’t always ideal.
Playa del Silencio – Cudillero
Stretching just 510 meters, this beach is one of Spain’s most coveted, known for its tranquility, crystal-clear waters, and surrounding majestic cliffs. Its serene atmosphere is partly due to its location near the village of Castañeras. To reach it, you’ll need to park on a dirt road, walk for a few minutes, and then descend a staircase.
Cadavedo – Valdés
In Asturias, it’s widely known as the Ribeirona. This beach spans 440 meters in length and covers over 53,000 square meters. However, its most notable feature is the clarity of its water. The most fascinating sight appears at low tide when the beach takes on the shape of a shell, revealing fine sea sand. The rock formations and surrounding forest add to its charm, making it increasingly popular.
Gulpiyuri – Llanes
For what better than rare beaches Gulpiyuri. As strange as it may seem it is far from the coast, about 100 meters away and isolated by rocks and vegetation, but still it receives seawater through an underground conduit. This wonder is not observed in other coasts of Spain and with just 50 meters length it is unique because its isolation protects it from the wind and strong currents while maintaining the effects of high and low tide. Not for nothing, in 2001, Gulpiyuri was declared Natural Monument in Asturias.
Peñarronda – Tapia de Casariego
This stunning beach, recognized for its excellent condition, pristine sand, rich vegetation, and diverse wildlife, was declared a Natural Heritage site in 2002. Stretching 600 meters, it is now one of the most beautiful on the Asturian coast. The beach receives sand from the Eo River and is flanked by two cliffs: Punta del Corno and Robaleira, offering breathtaking views.
Rodiles beach – Villaviciosa
What makes this beach truly remarkable is its size—it stretches over one kilometer! But its impressive length isn’t the only highlight. Rodiles Beach is also well-equipped for visitors, attracting thousands of travelers each year who come to enjoy its waters. As with all Asturian beaches, Rodiles boasts a stunning natural environment. The surrounding eucalyptus forest fills the air with a refreshing aroma, enhancing its natural beauty.
